Alphonse Karr Bamboo

Alphonse Karr Bamboo, a subtype of Bamboo Multiplex, is known for its eye-catching yellow canes with vertical green stripes, and young shoots tinted with pink. It thrives in hot climates and maintains a natural vase shape without any cascading foliage. Alphonse Karr Bamboo is a non-invasive clumping bamboo species and is possibly the best type of bamboo for tall hedges or barrier planting. Hardy to -5° Fahrenheit, Alphonse Karr Bamboo is drought tolerant once established, and can survive almost any condition, even high winds and sea salt. It responds well to pruning and grows to an average height of 35 feet. With its striking color and detail, Alphonse Karr Bamboo makes an ideal plant for privacy screening or as an ornamental focal point in garden planting.
